The Shire of Capel has released the Draft Local Heritage Survey 2026, endorsed for advertising at the March Ordinary Council Meeting, and we’re inviting our community to help shape how our local history is recognised and preserved into the future.
The Local Heritage Survey (LHS) identifies places of cultural and historical significance across our Shire. It provides the foundation for thoughtful planning, helping ensure heritage is respected, protected, and meaningfully included in future development.
🗓 Submissions are open for 21 days, closing Wednesday 13 May 2026.
Whether it’s a story worth preserving, a place worth recognising, or simply your support for the draft, we welcome your feedback. Every insight helps shape the bigger picture.

Hello, can you please advise if you will be contacting the property owners of each included property directly to advise them of this Survey and ensure that they have the opportunity to comment and correct any errors contained in the draft.
It is unfortunate that the consultant was not contracted to undertake a more thorough survey to ensure accurate collection of information. Kind regards Julie MacMile
