The Local Government Act 1995 enables Western Australian local governments to make local laws to assist with the governing of their district. In making a local law, a local government must follow the procedure set out in Division 2, Part 3 of the Act. Section 3.12(1) of the Act outlines the local law-making process that must be followed in the sequence in which it is described.
Part of the law-making process is providing Public Notice of the local law review and providing an opportunity for the public to make a submission of commentary which is then provided to Council for consideration.
The Shire of Capel is currently reviewing its local laws and will be sharing those laws here for public review and submissions. Should you have any questions relating to the process or wish to provide your feedback via email please contact us via info@capel.wa.gov.au with 'Local Laws' in the subject line to enable us to correctly direct your submission internally.
