This page is designed to keep community updated on the Shire of Capel's Rating Strategy for the 2026/27 Financial Year and Special Council Meetings.
At the Special Council Meeting on Wednesday 10 June 2026, there were requests for information during Public Questions. We have set up this page to enable easy access to some of the requested information, as well as to allow community a place to ask additional questions, submit their feedback, understand the rating strategy and be updated on the next Special Council Meeting, due to be held Wednesday 17 June 2026 at 6pm in the Shire of Capel Council Chambers.
We will share additional updates in the Updates Feed and encourage community to engage with the various tools on this page to assist the Shire with understanding the service areas you would like prioritised for the 2026/27 Financial Year as we seek to recalibrate and streamline revised projected income.

2026/27 NOTICE OF INTENTION TO LEVY DIFFERENTIAL RATES
The Shire of Capel advises that in accordance with Section 6.36 of the Local Government Act 1995, proposes to adopt the following differential rates in the dollar, minimum rate, and specified area rate for the 2026/27 financial year.
Following Council’s endorsement of the 2026/27 Draft Annual Budget, the 2026/27 Rating Strategy document, detailing the ‘Objects and Reasons’ for each proposed rate, is available at the Shire Offices, Forrest Road, Capel upon request and will also be available for review via the Shire’s website – www.capel.wa.gov.au.Ratepayers and electors are invited to make submissions in respect of the proposed GRV, UV and minimum rates by 4.00pm (AWST) on Monday 13 July 2026.Submissions can be made by hand at the Shire of Capel Office - 31 Forrest Road, Capel WA, by post to - Shire of Capel, PO BOX 369, Capel WA 6271 or email info@capel.wa.gov.au. Please mark your submission - Attention: Chief Executive Officer – Notice of Intention to Levy Differential Rates.
